Renowned National Trust properties waiting to be explored in Wales
The National Trust was founded in 1884 and we are lucky to have several National Trust properties within easy reach of Caer Cadwgan Bed and Breakfast.
Set within an SSSI, this Georgian estate is still a traditional working farm and garden. Within its walls you’ll find kitchen gardens, fruit trees, herbaceous borders and a herb garden filled with culinary and medicinal plants which are at their best in summer. Llanerchaeron in Ceredigion is a working estate and SSSI where farm, garden and wildlife go hand in hand and you can see traditional skills being used, even have go yourself. Pith helmets are so over.
Be a 21st century explorer – try geocaching and discover acres of wildlife among the meadows and woods of this SSSI. The estate is home to a Georgian villa and traditional working farm where you can try your hands at some bygone crafts and skills.
Dolaucothi Gold Mines
Grab your hard hat and head underground for a tour of the caves, in the footsteps of miners from the Roman to Victorian times. You can even go panning for gold. There are acres of estate brimming with wildlife to explore above ground too.
National Trust Beaches
Wales boasts some of the best beaches and National Trust Wales looks after 157 miles of them, all offering great views, abundant wildlife and a host of outdoor activities. Pick your spot – enjoy a wildlife experience of dolphins, seals, birds and marine life, an action-packed holiday of kayaking and paddle boarding, or a good old-fashioned day of sandcastles and beach combing.
